About HowLongAndHowMuch

Choosing a career means answering two questions before anything else: how long will it take me to get in, and what will it pay? The answers are usually scattered across dozens of pages, buried in jargon, or dressed up to sell you a course. HowLongAndHowMuch exists to give you both, plainly, on one page per career — so you can compare options and plan with your eyes open.

Where our numbers come from

Salary figures are approximate US medians based on public wage data (the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics), rounded and paired with entry-to-experienced ranges. State figures are estimates: we adjust the national median by a state wage index, so treat them as ballparks rather than exact survey numbers. Training times and requirements are typical entry routes and vary by state, program and person.

How we stay free

HowLongAndHowMuch is free to use. We keep the lights on through advertising and through commissions when readers choose training programs we link to. That never changes the figures we publish or the paths we describe. See our affiliate disclosure.

Not professional advice

We publish general information to help you plan. Nothing here is career, legal or financial advice, and we aren't a school or a licensing authority. Always confirm current requirements with the relevant state board and verify accreditation and cost directly with any program before enrolling.
